Community Impacts
One I particularly wish to honor today is LISAJO LAPTAD. She is the UNSUNG HERO who back in 1996 co-founded SCIRTS (Southern Colorado Inter-Regional Transgender Society) - the Trans Support Group which eventually evolved into PAGE (Peak Area Gender Expressions) here in Colorado Springs. LisaJo had the raw COURAGE to help raise up an informational/social Haven of Rest for a segment of Colorado's Citizenry that were not openly or officially protected or supported anywhere in the State south of the Boulder-Denver Corridor. And she did that coming from an honorable Military Service background. LisaJo risked it all to help lay the very foundation-stones upon which many Southern Colorado Trans-folks build and walk today - yet they never hear her name mentioned anywhere. Truly LisaJo BECAME THE CHANGE. Therefore today, I SALUTE HER!!
