Community Impacts

Comment by Reddit user Diggitydawg2020

At the time, any bar trying to compete with the Hide-N-Seek tried and failed. There was the Pelican Club, which closed down due to Tax issues, and the Penthouse Lounge, which started really well, until one of the owners/partners decided to turn it into a leather bar. Colorado Springs didn't have the population at the time to support a niche bar like that and it closed. The Underground had great intentions, but never found the right mix of people to support it. Club Q had the best run. There is talk that the owner was a man who only cared about making money, not creating a safe place for the community. Now closed forever due to the mass shooting on 11/20/2022. A terrible day.
