Community Impacts

"In late 2025, Monycka Snowbird was telling me about Ground Zero and other advocacy organizations that were operating in Colorado Springs in the 90's and early 2000's. Her stories about these organizations, and the stories of her work reclaiming indigenous remains and reuniting those remains with the names and stories they were separated from, inspired me. I realized I knew so little about my local queer community's history, and I wondered what stories were going untold. This is what led to me starting this research and archive. I am grateful to Monycka for her advocacy." --Nico Wilkinson

"Monycka Snowbird helped make it legal for people to own goats in Colorado Springs,[3] allowing for multiple cooperative living spaces and urban farms to own miniature milking goats. Because of this, Monycka was a local legend to us at The Quaill Club, and someone we were able to go to for advice while raising our goats, Coco and Rosie." --Nico Wilkinson
