Pikes Peak United Rodeo

A gay rodeo event that started September 21, 1991.[1]

History

Response to Amendment 2

Despite calls from gay activist groups for the event to be canceled as part of the movement to boycott Colorado in response to Amendment 2, the event went on as planned in September 1993 at Penrose Stadium. One of the officials, who wanted to be identified as Norman (perhaps as a reference to The Dog That Moos?), commented: "This is my home. I don't intend to leave." That year, Joe Brady was the Grand Marshall for the rodeo. [2]
