The Purple Cow

- [ ] Two local performers were also at the Purple Cow drag shows - Mister Ronnie and Patty. Who were they? Can we find out more about them?
- [x] Was the Rathskellar and the Purple Cow one and the same? "If you like German music and dances, try the rathskeller at the Purple Cow, you know, the Old Moors." Don Collier names both as sites of early drag shows. [^8]
- No. The Purple Cow had a Rathskellar, but the Rathskeller in question was beneath Edelweiss.
- [ ] It is unclear when the Purple Cow first started hosting drag shows. Elvira says she started doing drag there at 14, which would have been around 1965. The Purple Cow operating in the mid-60's also aligns with Dawn Collier's timeline of being a female impersonator at that time. However, according to the Gazette, the Purple Cow opened in 1969, and December 1969 is when Ray Herst covered the drag acts there in The Gazette. Explore this further. [^9][^10][^11][^12]
